Writers Talking About Writing

Hello, I need a fellow writer with whom I can meet to read my novel and give me edits, suggestions, etc. Someone I can bounce ideas off of. I live in Rancho Penasquitos and cannot really make the drive to The Ink Spot (I have three small children). I would prefer someone in the North County area -- we could meet weekly or biweekly for coffee (my treat!). Does anyone know someone who can help me? I am not a published writer (with fiction) but writing was my profession BK (before kids) and I was published in my previous jobs.

Hi, Are you still interested in having someone to bounce some ideas off of? I would love to have someone do the same for me. I am in the Scripts Ranch area. Let me know. Have a great day!

Yes, I am very much interested. My focus is rather off-beat: I write about working-man, everyday experiences. Also, I am cynical of people's commitment to noble causes. The two are themes of my latest writing. I'd be happy to trade edits. Your comments?

Hi Renee: I also live in Rancho Penasquitos and am a fellow writer. If you are still in need of a critic for your writing, let me know. Perhaps in the process, we could trade edits for my own fictional pieces as they arise.

Hi Renee,

I'm also working on a novel (my first) and have been looking for someone who would want to meet once every week or two for mutual critique, encouragement and accountability. I have an MFA in Creative Writing and have taught fiction and poetry at the college level. However, writing a novel is new for me too. I also worked as an editor and writer before becoming a SAHM. I have a 22 month old daughter and would be open to meeting either in the evening at a coffee shop or during the the day while the kids play.

Welcome San Diego Writers!

Grab a cup of coffee, pull up a chair and stay awhile. Let's talk about writing.

Keep a few things in mind as you post here:

1. Posts are public.
This is a public forum and all posts are archived on the web. Bottom line, don't say anything here you wouldn't want everyone (and I mean EVERYONE: your mom, your little brother, your future employer) to see. Forever.

2. Be On Topic.
This is a group of writers. We're here to talk about writing, the creation of writing, the business of writing, events about writing. We are also a community of friends to some extent, which means that on occasion, non-writing topics will come up. Use the Start a New Discussion link if you want to change topics, and be sure to Title and Tag your post appropriately. That way your fellow writers will be able to scan the list of active discussions and see which ones are of interest.

3. Be Respectful.
Don't really foresee a problem here, but we gotta say it anyway. Disagreements are fine, but please please don't resort to personal insults and/or name calling. Mean people are not cool and harassment, intentionally inflammatory remarks, and bigotry will not be tolerated.

4. Privacy.
We'll respect yours. We won't give away or sell names, contact information, etc. Please do the same for your fellow community members.

5. SPAM. Don't.

6. Ads.
Part of the deal with using this wonderful, free online tool (ning.com) is that it has Ads running along the side. We can upgrade to a professional account, but it will cost $20 per month, so if it bothers you, be prepared to pony up.
