If you don’t know about Free E Day, you should check out the directory here: http://freeeday.wordpress.com/free-e-day-directory/free-words/ It’s a list of people who will be giving online literature, art and music away FREE on December 1. But mo...

The border is a fascinating place, and inspires much of my writing. It's also one of the more unique things about San Diego: the only place in the world where two cities of a million people--one first world, one third--abut.

Hello Friends Thanks to your votes, I won a covey award for my book "trailer" for IMAGINARY LINES. Voting is now open for the video of ENGINES OF DESIRE, a pretty remarkable video which is not just a promo but a work of art in itself. I think yo...

About Me:
I'm a born expatriate and international writing bum, but consider "Dago" my home base in the USA and get there when I can.

I've wasted decades writing for every type of publisher imaginable, including some of the top US magazine markets. (And some of the bottom ones, too)

In the San Diego area I wrote heavily for the SD "Reader" (still do sometimes, but that's more of a mystery story) "Revolt" "City Beat" and "Zeta".

I appear to have become the reigning king of the Mexican slang niche market and it looks like I will have 5 novels published in the next six months. (But I'll believe it when I see it)

Linton Robinson

Two very important events for writers of ebooks, web fiction, podcasts, other eMedia

First, a unique and extremely cool event, Free E-day.
This is such an effective and gracious promotional event, and perfectly in tune with the whole dynamic of "eWriting".
The idea is, on Dec 1, 2009 writers and artists who work online or in electronic media such as eBooks, digital art or mp3 music will just give something away for free to all comers.

The concept was posted on the New Writing Media network so I'll just link to that blog, which has information and all the links.… Continue

My New Novel SWEET SPOT

It's a kind of political murder mystery. (Though political murders in Mexico are seldom very mysterious and everybody Mundo talks to confesses to killing the Mayor)

It's a kind of romance, unrequited love achieved... but then what?

It's kind of humorous (and not the nasty humor you probably expect :-)

It's kind of a travelogue... Mazatlan carnival and Mexican journalism.

Kind of a baseball book... we don't actually see a game played, but sports has molded these characters for life and the to… Continue

Greetings Mr. Robinson,

I heard of you from a fellow poet on poetrysoup.com I must admit I like your video production alot. Do you do your own work or was it professionally done ? I myself have ventured into the video poem arena, this is my first offering should you be curious. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r1WugwcfF68

Hi Linton:
I like the first promotional video the best. It is really a bomb!
We have traveled the length and breadth of Mexico, but I cannot figure where you are holed up!
We loved the Yucatan the best; around Merida and
Compeche. However, that does not rule out Acapulco where we almost bought a retirement home on the mountain side overlooking the city.
There is so much to see there, as you well know.
If you have 5 novels coming out and would like to select the best for a review, let me know and I can put in the mix. I review 1 to 3 books per week and certainly can squeeze another good one in!
Regards and keep up the good works.

Hi Linton -- great promotional video!! I don't speak Spanish, despite all my years working there, but used some slang in my latest novel -- so I will buy your book and make sure the little I thought I knew was okay!!!

About

JeSais JeSais created this Ning Network.

Welcome San Diego Writers!

Grab a cup of coffee, pull up a chair and stay awhile. Let's talk about writing.

Keep a few things in mind as you post here:

1. Posts are public.
This is a public forum and all posts are archived on the web. Bottom line, don't say anything here you wouldn't want everyone (and I mean EVERYONE: your mom, your little brother, your future employer) to see. Forever.

2. Be On Topic.
This is a group of writers. We're here to talk about writing, the creation of writing, the business of writing, events about writing. We are also a community of friends to some extent, which means that on occasion, non-writing topics will come up. Use the Start a New Discussion link if you want to change topics, and be sure to Title and Tag your post appropriately. That way your fellow writers will be able to scan the list of active discussions and see which ones are of interest.

3. Be Respectful.
Don't really foresee a problem here, but we gotta say it anyway. Disagreements are fine, but please please don't resort to personal insults and/or name calling. Mean people are not cool and harassment, intentionally inflammatory remarks, and bigotry will not be tolerated.

4. Privacy.
We'll respect yours. We won't give away or sell names, contact information, etc. Please do the same for your fellow community members.

5. SPAM. Don't.

6. Ads.
Part of the deal with using this wonderful, free online tool (ning.com) is that it has Ads running along the side. We can upgrade to a professional account, but it will cost $20 per month, so if it bothers you, be prepared to pony up.
