About Me:
There wasn't a choice for me when it comes to writing, I write because I have to. I have a rather unusual approach to my career as a writer which does not follow convention. As a highly creative artist, I choose to become an Industrial Engineer to learn how to apply a methodical discipline and structure to my work. The goal in my work-life is to create an arena where science and fantasy, fact and fiction, research and imagination are compliments.

As a multi media writer for the film industry, I write in the drama/mystery/martial arts/ horror genres and my work is all epic series. Think Highlander mets the Last Samurai in China.

The horror elements of my work run along the same line as Brotherhood of the Wolves... If you like Christoph Gans or Ang Lee, then you'll enjoy my work. Akira Kurosawa is my idol. I aspire to have a series of movies and shows as amazing as Gregory Widen and as vast Star Wars.

Abraham-Hicks and The Secret are my two most recommended CDs.

Dr. Sally Witt is the single most amazing life coach I have ever had. She has helped me beyond measures to become confident in myself as a person and writer. She is also an amazing networker for my career. As a screenplay writer, outside of writing, networking is my life.

I own and run two companies and am a black belt. I have a rather odd sense of humor but am mostly harmless with it.

A great writer can come from anywhere, but great writing always come from the heart.

Margaret, thanks for the advice on the editor and the screenplay book. I'll have to learn how to save the cat! :-)

Thank you.
I do have credits. I worked on "Nora's Choice" by Abell productions. I'm not sure where it can be found bu I really enjoyed working on it.

ADHD is my life story, so I totally get the multi distracted thing!

Well, thank you so much (about my website). I struggle with focusing on just one thing. I get bored too easily I guess :-)

I really dig your movie & director inspirations. At the risk of jinxing anything you have in progress, do you have any credits I can go rent?

Margaret, I saw your post on being a writer and was interested in your experience with screenplays. I've finished a first draft of my own (with a whole lotta work to go for sure) but I am starting to consider the idea of marketing it. Its a sci-fi action flick. I realize I will need an agent (or a lawyer) to help me sell it, and would truly appreciate some of your advice and recommendations. Thanks!

Welcome San Diego Writers!

Grab a cup of coffee, pull up a chair and stay awhile. Let's talk about writing.

Keep a few things in mind as you post here:

1. Posts are public.
This is a public forum and all posts are archived on the web. Bottom line, don't say anything here you wouldn't want everyone (and I mean EVERYONE: your mom, your little brother, your future employer) to see. Forever.

2. Be On Topic.
This is a group of writers. We're here to talk about writing, the creation of writing, the business of writing, events about writing. We are also a community of friends to some extent, which means that on occasion, non-writing topics will come up. Use the Start a New Discussion link if you want to change topics, and be sure to Title and Tag your post appropriately. That way your fellow writers will be able to scan the list of active discussions and see which ones are of interest.

3. Be Respectful.
Don't really foresee a problem here, but we gotta say it anyway. Disagreements are fine, but please please don't resort to personal insults and/or name calling. Mean people are not cool and harassment, intentionally inflammatory remarks, and bigotry will not be tolerated.

4. Privacy.
We'll respect yours. We won't give away or sell names, contact information, etc. Please do the same for your fellow community members.

5. SPAM. Don't.

6. Ads.
Part of the deal with using this wonderful, free online tool (ning.com) is that it has Ads running along the side. We can upgrade to a professional account, but it will cost $20 per month, so if it bothers you, be prepared to pony up.
